SAME WINES NEW LOOK

The release of the 2006 Glaetzer wines heralds several exciting changes in packaging and even a change of name for one of our wines.  Don’t be alarmed, the same wines showing the trademark Glaetzer elegance and complexity will still exist, they just look a little different.  With the release of the 2006 wines in September 2007, you will notice a more harmonious approach to labelling across the range.

Glaetzer Amon-Ra Shiraz 2006 - our flagship wine will remain unchanged.

The eye on the front of the label is the all-seeing eye of Horus.  The ancient Egyptian eye of Horus or wedjat (“whole one”) is a powerful symbol of protection.  The eye of Horus is represented as a figure with six parts, corresponding to the six senses – touch, taste, hearing, thought, sight and smell.  Ben created Amon-Ra Shiraz to appeal to all those senses.
Relax, this is one wine in the line up that has not had its label tinkered with.

Glaetzer Anaperenna Shiraz Cabernet 2006 (formerly called Godolphin)

Same wine, same winemaker, same symbol from the same renowned Barossa vineyards – with a new name.
Glaetzer Godolphin Shiraz Cabernet has made quite an impact in its first 2 vintages. For the 2006 vintage, we have changed the name to Anaperenna.
Anaperenna’s name has been inspired by Anna Perenna, Roman goddess of the new year.  Her name translates as “enduring year”.  At an annual festival, Romans would call on Anna to grant them longevity and would ask Anna to grant them a year of good health for each glass of wine they drank on that day.  (We of course, endorse more responsible drinking with Anaperenna)
The 2006 Anaperenna Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon retains the symbol from the Godolphin label: the Egyptian ankh (pronounced: onk) represents sunrise, regeneration, regrowth and renewal.  The symbol is most appropriate as we welcome Anaperenna into our range.

Glaetzer Bishop Shiraz 2006 – Same wine, new label.

In keeping with our use of icons/symbols on our labels we have incorporated the Venus, Mercury and female symbols on our new label for Glaetzer Bishop Shiraz. It consists of a combination of the Venus symbol & the feminine symbol topped by the crescent of the moon, which is considered to be masculine in astrology.
As Bishop is the family/ maiden name of Colin’s wife Judith this wine is a tribute to the female side of the Glaetzer family.  In naming this wine, Colin wanted to pay tribute to his wife and in the same way the new label represents Ben’s tribute to his mother.

Glaetzer Wallace Shiraz Grenache 2006 – Same wine, new label.

Once again, you will notice a change in label with the release of the 2006 vintage of this wine. The new label represents a new era for Glaetzer Wines as we move all 4 labels in the range closer together in style.
Wallace is an ancestral name of Colin’s wife Judith, who hail from the old market town of Cupar in Fife, Scotland. The Celtic ancestry is reflected in the three elements depicted on the label- the Celtic cross, thistle and the Celtic knot pattern.

The 2006 wines in the Glaetzer range were released in early September 2007.
Each wine now has its own name and symbol.  Amon-Ra and Anaperenna are based on ancient myths and symbolism that have inspired Ben Glaetzer and the two wines which were the original family wines (Bishop and Wallace) honour the female members of the Glaetzer family.

We are excited about our new packaging and hope you are too.
