Glaetzer named "Emerging Star"

Press Release
 Jul 2002

Langton's Australian Fine Wine Guide 5th Edition 2002

"Glaetzer Shiraz … a wine with superb credentials. Colin Glaetzer, the creator of E&E Black Pepper Shiraz, knows the veins along the back of the Barossa's hands. Watch this space …"

Glaetzer Wines has been named as an "emerging star" among Australia's premium producers in the latest edition of wine investment bible, Langton's Australian Fine Wine Guide.

The respected Langton's directory, written by wine auctioneers Andrew Caillard MW and Stewart Langton, is the benchmark guide for Australia's blue-chip investment wine market.

Father-and-son winemaking team, Colin and Ben Glaetzer, are thrilled to see their super-premium Barossa Glaetzer Shiraz 1998 and 1999 scored as 93 and 94 respectively, in Langton's tasting notes. In Langton's international standard 100-point scoring system, 93-100 is, "Outstanding to Perfection".

Follow Langton's lead and look out for the current vintages of the flagship 1999 Glaetzer Shiraz and 1999 Glaetzer Bishop Shiraz.

What Langton's wrote about Glaetzer Wines:

"Glaetzer is one of the emerging stars of the Barossa. Although this family winery was established in 1995, philosophically, and by heritage, Glaetzer is Barossa down to its boot-straps. A Roseworthy-trained father and son team, Colin and Ben Glaetzer, makes the wines. Colin is the man behind the spectacularly successful Barossa Valley Estates E&E Black Pepper Shiraz.

Glaetzer Shiraz - first vintage 1996 - epitomises the strong sense of place emerging in the Barossa. This is a wine that goes further than expressing Barossa floor Shiraz. The fruit is sourced entirely from low-yielding unirrigated vines (mostly around 60 and 80 years old) around the village of Ebenezer ……

Although only four vintages have been released, Glaetzer Shiraz already shows strong regional provenance with all the class one would expect from a top Barossa shiraz. The Bishop Shiraz, seemingly with religious connotations, is actually named after Colin's wife's family .……. The style is quite similar to Penfolds St Henri."
