'Be Struck Dumb' - Godolphin 2004

Matthew Jukes, The Wine List 2006
 Oct 2005

This is the earth-shatteringly brilliant younger brother to Amon-Ra, (a nose-bleedingly expensive monolith), and it’s a hedonistic Shiraz / Cabernet blend.  Where Amon-Ra is, admittedly, totally over the top, (not remotely my scene) Godolphin is near perfection.  This is one of the most highly anticipated launches of the year - it is due in store in Autumn.  I first tasted this wine (sworn to secrecy about its name, the blend and even existence) back in February.  I nearly had to lie down in a dark room for an hour, such was the effect on my system.  I adore Godolphin and I defy anyone not to be struck dumb by its flavour impact. So, for a white-knuckle experience, do your best to find a bottle of this wine.
