Anaperenna 2006: Seasonal SippingDavid Sly, SALife MagazineDec 2008 Every festive dinner table demands a serious bottle of red, and I'd suggest a super premium blend for maximum enjoyment. Winemaker Ben Glaetzer pays homage to a great Australian wine icon - the shiraz cabernet blend - with this powerful modern take on the style, finding balance between fruit sweetness, savory spice and plush texture. Boasting 75 per cent rich Barossa shiraz from the Ebenezer district and incredibly intense cabernet off neighbouring Barossa vines up to 120 years old, this blend shows exceptionally dark, rich colour, with the hint of cabernet leafiness atop a brooding mass of serious black fruit - elements magnified after 15 months' maturation in new French and some American oak. While this vintage is still a baby and exhibits all the right attributes for cellaring, it's still ripe to enjoy now. |
